The campfire site / lean-to shelter along the trail can be freely used.
Pikku-Ahvenisto Nature Trail is a wonderful destination for nature trips near the centre of Ylöjärvi. It’s easy to access by car, and there’s plenty of parking space on Hopeatie Road. The 1,5 km trail has signposts with information about the area’s wildlife.
At the start of the route is a villa built in the early 1900s that can currently be rented for private occasions of up to 50 people. An old path leaves from the villa and follows the side of the lake.
Opposite the villa, on the western shore of the lake, is a lean-to shelter that anyone can use. The rest spot is in good condition and situated at the edge of an open meadow. Remember to pack something to eat and drink!
Note: Please keep in mind that there may be adders in Pikku-Ahvenisto. However, adders are shy and they usually avoid people. There are also slow-worms in the area, which are harmless and protected. Remember that you should not kill slow-worms or adders, and such an act can lead to criminal liability.
